hosting the olympics is good for a city’s economy because they bring a lot of publicity to that city. it brings investment, jobs and nontangibles like pride

google will have the logo until the olympics is over it’s to honor the athletes and the olympic games if you don’t like the logo then change your home page or use yahoo search engines

PLUS It looks like Rio won’t be able to have the funds to build the quality sport facilities like Chicago, Tokyo, or Madrid would have done. Don’t be surprise if you see a classic olympic sport in a crappy building that looks like the ymca live on tv. The Olympic committee will regret this one.

There really isn’t any "official" way to rank, as far as I know, since no country is declared as a winner. Most countries like to rank via. Gold Medal Count while the US rank by Total Medal Count.

Anyway, that is why France shows the US in 3rd. Canada has the most medals , then Germany , and then the US .

Depends on where it will be held, how long you might be staying and how ‘luxurious’ you want your trip to be etc… hard to say but probably more than 3000 dollars if you need to fly

Tickets for the London 2012 Olympics will probably start going on sale within the next 18 months or so. Accommodation in the capital could be tricky (but thankfully the surrounding towns could provide a solution)

Depends - if they were in my city I would definitely stay. But if they were somewhere else, I’d go on vacation. It’s the Olympics - you’ll see them anywhere.

And finally, Olympics cities are chosen seven years in advance. Even the worst planner in the world can probably time their vacations to not conflict with the Olympics.

Well, we just had a gold medal favourite with an epic fail in snowboard cross, so I’m not too optimistic right now. I think we’ll finish with about 22, a little behind what we did in Torino.

Edit:OK, I’m feeling a lot better about women’s snowboard cross now!!! Let’s hope for 25 medals.
